You don’t have to be a member of the church to take part in the services and many other activities at UUMC. But, when you’re ready for a church home, we are ready to welcome you home.
Do you have questions?
An informal time to have Pastry with the Pastors is offered on the first Sunday of each month from 9:45 until 10:30 a.m. to answer questions about UUMC and United Methodism in general.
For both members and prospective members, a Newcomer Orientation Series of classes is held several times a year. The five-week program includes a tour of the building and covers the history, doctrine and beliefs, worship and sacraments, and structure of the United Methodist Church. But most importantly, these sessions can help you connect your spiritual gifts with the ministries and programs of University Church. You’ll find a place where your needs can be met and where you can meet the needs of your new church family.
In addition to these two structured ways to get more information, you can also send email to the church office or call the church office at 929-7191. Or just visit us for worship at 8:30 or 10:55 on Sunday mornings. The clergy and members of the congregation are ready to greet you and answer your questions.
Ready to join?
Each month, new members officially join the church on New Member Sunday, which usually occurs on the third Sunday of the month. They join through baptism, confirmation, renewal or transfer from another congregation. You’ll have a Fellowship Friend to help you in the early stages of UUMC membership. These friends will be present with you at worship during your reception as a new member, call to invite you to church events and serve as a resource for information.
College students and others who wish to maintain membership in their home churches may join UUMC as affiliate or associate members.
Confirmation classes are offered each year, beginning in the fall for youth in grades six and up who have not yet been confirmed. After confirmation and joining in the following spring, the youth are considered adult members of the congregation.
We look forward to welcoming you to the UUMC family!
